Poor posture can result in your body becoming sore and stiff.
One of our directors Natalie, discusses how to optimise your posture during sitting.
We've recently had a lot of questions about posture in the clinic so thought we'd shoot a video and write a blog on it.
What makes posture bad is a sustained posture.
This means a posture where you are sitting or standing in one position for too long.
To get into a good sitting posture, follow these steps:
1) Poke the chin out, tuck the chin in and find the middle between these two movements
2) Raise your shoulders, reach for the floor, relax the shoulders
3) Round your shoulders, squeeze your shoulder blades, rest your shoulder blades on the back of your rib cage
4) Find your ribs and place your hands around them
5) Flare your ribs out, tuck them in and then find the middle where they are floating above your pelvis
6) Place your hands around your pelvis like you are cupping the rim of a bucket
7) Tip water out of the front of the bucket the tip water out the back of the bucket
8) Find neutral, where there is no water spilling out of the bucket
9) Keep your feet flat on the floor or use a foot stool if your feet won't touch the ground
10) Use a lumbar roll if required to support your lower back
